The Himalayan Tradition
Inner discovery and self-transformation
As shared on the Himalayan Institute website:
"The message of the Himalayan tradition is one of self realization—to first become aware of the reality within ourselves, and to build a bridge between our inner and outer worlds. This inner journey of self discovery has the capacity to grant us freedom from all fears, propel our transformation and empowerment, and lead us to the pinnacle of self-realization."
The lineage includes:
The lineage includes:
- Raja (Patanjali) yoga, meditation, and contemplation, focused on disentangling from the not Self
- Worldview and philosophical wisdom of the tradition including the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Tantric texts, and enriched by Sankhya, Vedanta and Tantric philosophies
- The study and practice of mantra meditation (the Yoga of sound)
- The study and practice of Tantra through rituals, pranayama, hatha yoga, and kundalini yoga, and yoga nidra
- Healing traditions inspired by yoga and Ayurveda
The teaching of Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, of the Himalayan Institute, flows through an unbroken line of teachings of the Himalayan Masters. I was initiated into this lineage by Pandit Tigunait in 2003.
There are many different kinds of practices from the Himalayan lineage, which create a connection with various dimensions of ourselves. I bring in practices in an intuitive, non-traditional way, which is trauma-informed, meets you where you are, and creates agency and competency related to what your intention for working with me.

"In this day and age when the world is shrinking into a global family, we must realize that our first identity is that we are human beings. Unless we, as individuals, gain this realization at a personal level, political maneuvering and the sweet-sounding talking of peace will bear no fruit. It is only this knowledge that can make the idea of loving all and hating none, embracing all and exluding none, a living reality."

Practice ~ Devotion ~ Selfless Service
The scope of the Himalayan tradition of Sri Vidya is a vast umbrella, a weave of the right hand path of Tantra, Patanjali (or classical Raja) Yoga, and Ayurveda. This includes Yogas such as Kundalini Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin, Restorative, Nidra, Power, Power, Bhakti, Kriya, traditional Hatha, Meditation, Pranayama, Mudra, and more.
The underlying philosophy is that Yoga is Medicine. When we understand ourselves and what we need, and understand the specific quality that each practice yields, we can do the right practice in the right way at the right time to support ourselves. |
